2nd Grade Teacher

The Rosendale-Brandon School District is seeking qualified candidates for a full time 2nd grade teaching position at Rosendale Primary School beginning with the 2023-2024 school year.   Job Description  Qualified applicants should be positive, self-motivated individuals who are passionate about developing all learners’ abilities via differentiated instruction and active learning. Applicants with strong communication skills are also preferred. Appropriate Wisconsin teaching certification is required.

CLASSROOM TEACHER

Purpose Statement: The CLASSROOM TEACHER will plan, organize and implement an appropriate
instructional program in an elementary, middle, or secondary learning environment that guides and
encourages students to develop and fulfill their academic, social, and emotional potential.
Reports to:
Building principal or other supervising administrator
Supervises:
● Supervises the behavior of students in the classroom, throughout the school, and on
educational trips
● Provides input to supervising administrator regarding teaching assistants assigned to classroom
Essential Functions:
● Plans and develops an engaging, age appropriate course of study in the classroom, adhering to
educational best practices and state and school district curriculum guidelines
● Designs and presents individual lesson plans in one or more academic subject areas using a
variety of teaching techniques that appeal to various learning styles and methods
● Prepares materials for lessons, assignments, and tests; assesses student academic and
behavioral progress and provides meaningful feedback
● Establishes and communicates clear objectives for all learning activities
● Monitors student progress throughout the year and evaluates preparedness for subsequent
academic year
● Communicates all progress and concerns with tact and professionalism to parents and, as
appropriate, to other staff
● Builds and maintains positive relationships with students, parents, and staff
● Enforces safety and security standards for students, staff, and visitors
● Maintains required paperwork for individual student files, attendance and incident reports, and
other necessary records
● Participates in staff meetings, educational conferences, in-service opportunities, workshops, and
other trainings
● Performs other related duties as assigned

● Understanding of pedagogy and best practices in education
● Desire to teach children and ability to adapt to their developmental status
● Ability to design lessons that teach curriculum in an engaging manner while applying various
teaching methods
● Strong supervisory and leadership skills to manage student behavior

● Bachelor’s degree in education or related subject required
● State certification in appropriate subject area required
Physical Requirements:
● Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer or standing to teach
● Regularly reach with hands and arms
● Must be able to traverse classroom and adjust one’s tone and height, by bending or leaning, in
order to teach each child, as well as lead students to safety in the event of an emergency
● Occasionally lift and/or move up to 15 pounds
