2nd Shift Steel Shop Associate

BASIC FUNCTION 

Under the direction of the Steel Shop Supervisor, the Steel Shop Associate 1 will perform basic tasks such as drilling, basic MIG welding, punch press, cutting steel, and grinding.  

OUTPUTS

  • May need to perform basic MIG welding. 
  • Label finished goods according to job orders.
  • Operate drill press, band saw, hand grinder, punch press, and belt sander.
  • Clean and perform basic operations of the equipment used.
  • Inspect product quality during and after the production of the product.
  • Use a pallet jack or operate a forklift to move the finished goods to appropriate destination. 
  • Issue materials according to work order by using ERP system.


QUANTITATIVE REQUIREMENTS

High school diploma or equivalent preferred. No experience is required at this level unless the Associate is assigned to perform basic MIG welding. Must obtain and maintain Forklift Certification.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES, PERSONAL CHARACTERISTICS

  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as blueprints, customer specifications, shop drawings, and operating instructions.
  • Ability to follow and perform all safety policy and procedures. 
  • Ability to have effective communication skills.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. 
  • Requires the ability to operate and demonstrate a tape measure and apply measurements to processes as well as variety of small hand and power tools.
  • The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds with assistance.  
  • Ability to work independently and a team player.
