Applications are being accepted for an Adjunct Adult Education Instructor at Moraine Park Technical College. The primary teaching responsibilities for this position will be teaching at the Green Lake County Correctional Facility. This position provides instruction in GED/HSED preparation including reading, math, writing, social studies, employment readiness skills, test preparation, college preparedness, life skills, Adult Career Pathways, and other Adult Education areas as needed. Teaching assignments may include evening and weekend hours. This position reports to the Associate Dean of Adult Education.
1. Provide learner-centered, active learning environments and activities for students regardless of delivery format: independent study, traditional classroom, accelerated, self-paced, online (internet), or others as appropriate.
2. Working within the District policies, provide instruction in the Adult Education Program including the areas of reading, math, English, social studies, GED/HSED test preparation, and life skills, preparing and supporting students as appropriate for transition to or retention in post-secondary courses.
3. Active participation on the Adult Education Work Team and other teams of the College, including planning, development, scheduling, budgeting, and grant writing as a professional team member.
4. Assist in the ongoing development of and revision of performance-based curriculum using the World Wide Instructional Design System (WIDS) model. Plan instruction and materials that incorporate a variety of learning styles and intelligence to enable students to achieve course outcomes in accordance with College, work team and legal guidelines.
5. Maintain required district reports and student records, responsible for project and client reporting.
6. Monitor student progress and participate in student evaluation according to the concepts of Performance Based Instruction (PBI).
7. Work collaboratively with faculty and staff to support the primary system of teaching and learning, and to foster a learner-centered environment incorporating MPTC’s standards of teaching excellence.
8. Provide occupational information and guidance to students.
9. Assist in marketing and promotional activities for the program.
10. Develop professionally through an individualized professional growth plan which provides for continuous improvement and which may include internal and external training, in-service activities and occupational and technological updates.
1. Bachelor’s Degree or higher in elementary education, secondary education, adult education, special needs education or
2. Wisconsin DPI Secondary Education license in a core academic area (Math, Science, English, Social Studies), Special Education, or Technical Education.
3. Two (2) years of teaching experience is preferred.
3. Experience with digital literacy or educational technology is preferred.
4. Ability to adapt to meet student needs, including flexibility in scheduling, workload, and type/variety of communication.
5. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to convey ideas and concepts in a professional manner. Ability to adjust to variance in communication and learning styles of students. Ability and willingness to communicate regularly with students and other internal and external customers.
6. Ability to understand and promote the educational philosophy and programs that MPTC offers. Willingness to grow and evolve with the College’s educational philosophy.
7. Experience working and participating in a team environment and collaborating with other individuals and teams to meet student needs. Willingness to help students and team members grow and learn.
8. Experience with the MS Office Suite, the internet and email. Ability and willingness to learn welding related content and teach academic skills through contextualized instruction. Experience with online learning platforms and student management systems preferred.
9. Ability and willingness to continuously learn and accept constructive feedback.
10. Strong organizational and time management skills. Must be able to manage time and schedule effectively.
11. Must meet Faculty Quality Assurance System requirements as detailed in Chapter TCS 3 of the Wisconsin Administrative Code.
