The primary role of the Assistant Media Planner is to help build / support the development of media campaigns across multiple channels. As an entry level position, the Assistant represents the start of a media career and plays a critical role in the daily tactical management of media planning and placement on behalf of assigned client(s). 

Responsibilities:

  • Acquire understanding of the client’s media planning process to help achieve campaign goals
  • Assist the Media Account Services team to ensure flawless execution of media campaigns through hands-on systems data entry and support
  • Manage, generate, confirm and track media insertion orders
  • Communicate with media vendors (primarily newspapers and out-of-home vendors) to ensure order accuracy and timely approvals; troubleshoot issues and bring forth timely solutions
  • Help with the preparation, development, and monitoring of media plans for assigned accounts
  • Help maintain flowcharts, buying guidelines, budget summaries, plan delivery and competitive reports
  • Run and maintain spending and other required reports; build baseline assessments of data, as required
  • Attend campaign kick-off and other team meetings; work with the account team to establish workflow processes and manage projects and documentation to completion
  • Utilize time management skills to prioritize workflow without sacrificing quality of work
  • Develop positive relationships with vendors, internal team members and client contacts; foster and maintain positive relationships through professional written and verbal communications
  • Support team by maintaining appropriate records of all written directions, work orders, recommendations, and media contracts, which result in client decisions or approvals, particularly authorizations to proceed with chargeable services
  • Ensure best practices and agency processes are being followed on behalf of assigned client(s)
  • Ensure appropriate prioritization of simultaneous client projects; work with manager to establish accordingly
  • Manage internal / client status reports
  • Perform other related duties as required or assigned

Qualifications:

  • 0-2 years of relevant work experience
  • 4-year college degree or equivalent in marketing, advertising or related field
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office applications
  • Ability to learn and become proficient in server-based software and tools; experience with MediaOcean, Workfront and / or proprietary systems “a plus”
  • Detail oriented with exceptional organizational and multi-tasking skills
  • Proven ability to manage multiple, simultaneous short- and long-term projects
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills to effectively interact with internal teams and clients
  • Strong math and analytical skills
  • Strong interest in or familiarity with Media and Communications Planning
  • Ability to work well within a fast-paced, team-oriented environment while being responsive to changing priorities
