Description
The School District of Oakfield is the highest performing district in Fond du Lac County. It is a 4K-12 school district with a student enrollment of 531. The Oakfield community is extremely supportive of academic achievement, social/emotional growth, and has high expectations for the school district.
We are seeking a full time Business Manager, responsible for the fiscal and operational functions of the district, including overseeing insurance programs, budget development, facilities, salary & compensation, transportation, food service, purchasing and other duties typically associated with a public K-12 school district. This position reports to the District Administrator.
Responsibilities include:
Financial Management
- Develop, monitor, and manage the district budget in collaboration with the district administrator and leadership team.
- Develop district financial reporting, including but not limited to monthly board financial reports and all annual financial reports required by the State of Wisconsin and Federal Government.
- In conjunction with District Administrator conduct periodic financial analysis for informed decision making utilizing the Baird Model.
- Oversee accounts payable, receivable, and payroll processes.
- Collaborate with district leadership to align financial goals with educational objectives.
- Aid in communication documents for the school board to ensure transparent and engaged budget development and reporting.
Operations
- Manage day to day operations, ensuring compliance with district policies and procedures.
- Manage and process the accounting of all grants and claims.
- Oversee Human Resource Responsibilities with the District Administrator.
- Oversee payroll and benefits system that meets all federal, state, and local district requirements.
- Oversee facilities management, including maintenance and electronic door system.
- Work in conjunction with the district’s food service vendor and Facility Maintenance Department.
- Manage RFP schedules for transportation, food service, snow & lawn care services, and audit services for the district.
- Responsible for maintaining inventory reporting schedule and biannually OPEB study.
Compliance and Reporting
- Ensure compliance with relevant laws and regulations governing school districts.
- Follow all district policies.
- Prepare a minimum of monthly budget reports and projections for the superintendent and school board, as well as additional reports and projections as needed.
- Collaborate with external auditors to regulatory bodies.
- Manage other projects and tasks as directed by the Superintendent and /or Board of Education.
Qualifications
- A Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction License Number 5008 is preferred but not required.
- School Finance experience is preferred.
- Experience or knowledge of educational organizations preferred.
- Ability to establish and maintain positive relationships.
- Creative & collaborative problem-solving skills
- Strong interpersonal communication skills
Candidate Requirements

- Bachelor’s degree – preferred
- Business Manager/School Business Administrator – preferred
