Catering Manager

FTE: 1.0

This position promotes and supports the learning experience of Marian University students by, exercising organization nutrition, creativity, and culinary skills for Campus Dining and internal and external events conducted on-campus.

Essential Functions:

  1. Manage customer dining inquiries
  2. Order and manage the inventory of supplies for events
  3. Oversees preparation of the venue for the event
  4. Create and manage customer contracts
  5. Maintain accurate records of costs for catering services
  6. Collects payment for food and services as specified in contract
  7. Discusses menu choices and associated costs with clients
  8. Collaborates with chef regarding special items to be added to the menu
  9. Set tables for guest per customer request
  10. Confirm timely meal service and deliveries
  11. Serve food and drinks
  12. Understand safe food handling
  13. Serve alcohol per Wisconsin regulations
  14. Clean up and tear down the dining area including tableware, dishes, waste
  15. Ensure kitchen staff adhere to special dietary needs
  16. Sets up and arranges tables and chairs, serving stations, lines, and tableware
  17. Ensures the venue is clean and that food is handled in a sanitary manner
  18. Addresses problems or complaints concerning food or services provided

Other Responsibility:

  1. Performs other work-related duties as necessary or as assigned

Education, Experience, and Skills Required:

  1. Management Degree or experience
  2. 2 years’ experience in food preparation and service
  3. The ability to display leadership, hospitality and customer service
  4. Excellent verbal and written communication
  5. Proficiency with computers and computer programs (Microsoft products)
  6. Entrepreneurial thinking
  7. Good communication skills
  8. Must be flexible, to include evening and weekends
  9. Willingly support the Mission and Core Values of the University
