The Citizen’s Police Academy was created to promote a greater understanding of law enforcement through education and personal interaction by providing a glimpse into the life of police officers through tours, presentations, and many interactive activities. The goal is to build a positive relationship between the Fond du Lac Police Department and community members. This course is not intended to be a stepping stone for those hoping to pursue a police career; it is intended to produce informed citizens.
Upon graduation members will have more knowledge of the policies, procedures, and practices of the Fond du Lac Police Department.
Topics include:
Your instructors will include SWAT personnel, supervisors, Firearm instructors, Use of Force instructors, drug investigators, K9 officers and patrol officers. During class participants are encouraged to ask questions, enter into discussion and give feedback to the department. Academy participants are also encouraged to participate in the Fond du Lac Department ride along program.
The academy will run for 6 weeks from October 8, 2024 to November 12, 2024. Meetings will take place every Tuesday during those weeks from 6:00 PM-8:00 PM. The academy is free of charge and open to all citizens who are at least 18 years of age who have passed a criminal background check. Background checks will be completed before being accepted into the academy.
Seating is limited for this popular program so we encourage you to submit your application early.
