If so, we want you to join our team as the Director of Marketing for our Destination Marketing Organization, , the official visitors bureau for Fond du Lac, Waupun, and beyond.

About Us: serves sort of as the Sales and Marketing department for our region. We are a dedicated team committed to showcasing the beauty, culture, and experiences of our home turf. Our DMO (Destination Marketing Organization), located in the heart of Fond du Lac’s thriving Downtown District, plays a vital role in attracting visitors, driving economic growth, and enhancing the overall quality of life for residents.

Through innovative and time-tested sales initiatives, we strive to position our community as a must-visit destination for travelers seeking authentic experiences. also plays key roles in reminding locals what an awesome community we live in and assisting in attracting workers and new residents to our region. While our sole revenue stream is derived from a bed tax on hotel guests (in other words tourists not locals fund this organization), we believe strongly that a community must be a great place to live in order for it to be a great place to visit.

We are seeking a seasoned professional -OR- a passionate go-getter looking for a new career, to fill the role of Director of Client Services & Sales. This key position will drive our sales efforts and ensure exceptional client service to support the growth and success of our destination.

As a Destination Marketing Organization, it is our responsibility to convince the potential traveler to consider this region as a great destination. The types of groups that travel to our community are corporate & association meetings, amateur and youth sports tournaments, and motorcoach groups to mention a few. The right person for this job will work diligently to (1) seek out these types of groups; (2) sell the features/benefits of visiting our region; (3) work closely with the groups when they are in town to make sure their needs are met and exceeded.

This is a relatively small organization our team members must be able to identify opportunities and execute on both Strategic and Tactical levels.


  • Develop and execute comprehensive customer service & sales strategies to promote our community as a premier destination for leisure travelers, business travelers, youth & amateur sports tournaments, and local event planners. Secondarily this person will also understand the importance of partnering with local audiences such as local event organizers, local meeting planners, local business leaders, residents, not-for-profits, churches, and many other local entities — working to bring meetings, gatherings, events, and sports tournaments to OUR region.
  • Provide exceptional service and support to clients, ensuring their needs are met and exceeded, with the ultimate goal of bringing meetings, gatherings, events, and sports tournaments to the Lake Winnebago Region not just once but time and time again.
  • Collaborate with marketing and operations teams to develop compelling offerings and experiences.
  • Monitor and analyze sales performance metrics to track progress and identify areas for improvement.
  • Represent our DMO at industry events, trade shows, and networking functions to promote our community and foster partnerships.
  • This person will also take a crucial and lead role in special projects, such as assisting in the organizing and execution of regional shopping events, the Customer Service Training Initiative, agritourism initiatives, and other such projects designed to increase the attractiveness of our community to visitors and residents alike.


  • A bachelor’s degree is not a hindrance. Extensive experience is fine but not required. MUST be a self-starter, interested in being a change-agent and HUGE community advocate.
  • Must be willing to pick up the phone and get the ball rolling (over and over again).
  • Must be dedicated to driving results not just “reaching out” to check off a to-do list.
  • Must understand that CRM’s are necessary evils and commit to embracing our system (you can hate it … but you gotta use the heck out of it).
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation abilities.
  • Strategic thinker with the ability to develop and implement effective sales and service strategies.
  • MUST be super detail oriented.
  • MUST be a self-starter that thrives within an environment without micromanagement.
  • MUST be able to pivot between Strategic and Tactical.
  • MUST be willing to laugh a lot.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $45,000.00 – $55,000.00 per year
