The City of Fond du Lac, Wisconsin, is seeking an Electrician. The purpose of this position is to perform skilled work in the installation, maintenance, and repair of electrical systems and equipment, and to perform related work as required.

The successful candidate will possess thorough knowledge of electrical methods, practices, and principles in the installation, repair, and maintenance of electrical systems and equipment; laws, rules and regulations pertaining to electrical codes and their application; occupational hazards and safe work practices. Abilities required include: install, maintain and repair electrical systems and equipment; understand and effectively carry out oral and written instructions; and establish and maintain effective public and working relationships; read plans, specifications, rough sketches and layouts.

Duties include: Installation, maintenance and repair of electrical systems in municipal facilities; install, maintain, and repair electrical and electronic equipment, worn and obsolete equipment; installation, maintenance of electronic traffic controls, street light systems, traffic control systems; installation, maintenance and repair of emergency systems in municipal buildings; maintenance or records preparation; locating of underground city-owned electrical systems; maintain clerical, activity, financial, and other records as required.

HOURS: Normally scheduled hours include Monday – Friday from 6:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. as well as being frequently available for emergency response during off-shift hours as well as participating in the on-call rotation.

REQUIREMENTS: Graduation from high school and four or more years of experience in electrical construction and maintenance work. Special requirements include possession of a Journeyman Electrician license issued by the State of Wisconsin and a valid Wisconsin Commercial “Class B” Driver’s License without air brakes restriction.

SALARY RANGE: We offer a competitive compensation package $28.76 – $32.92/hour; $35.48 – $39.93/hour with employer health benefits and WRS match based upon knowledge, skills, and abilities with potential to receive additional step increases based on meeting and/or exceeding goals/expectations; annual COLA and step increases pending City Council approval of budgets; and future promotional opportunities in alignment with succession and career path.
