This position promotes and supports the learning experience of Marian University students by overseeing the interview and hiring processes for positions such as servers, hosts, bussers, and bartenders. They also oversee, direct, and actively participate in training personnel in these positions. Additionally, this position supervises the cleanliness and upkeep of the dining room and guest contact areas, including restrooms and any closet/coat check areas. Finally, this person will supervise individual shifts, helping ensure that dining guests are served in a manner that meets the standards set by the university. Essential Functions:
- Deliver the professional greeting of visitors, to the highest standards.
- Availability to work an irregular schedule as required to ensure proper coordination of events and bar service.
- Manage front-of-house staff and front-of-house items: set tables for guests per customer request, clean up and tear down the dining area including tableware, dishes, and waste; serve food and drinks, and ensures the venue is clean and that food is handled in a sanitary manner.
- Coordinate and/or assist with set-up for events when needed and prepare bar set up pre-event and breakdown post-event; includes preparation of cash drawers and accurate counting of money, recording and locking up till.
- Follow and understand food and safety regulations.
- Works with Auxiliary Support to sets up and arrange tables and chairs, serving stations, lines, and tableware per contract.
- Maintain a positive customer relationship, processing complaints, and respond to customer needs.
- Hire, train, and manage food and beverage staff for special events and bar service.
- Manage and Serve alcohol per Wisconsin regulations (Wisconsin Responsible Beverage Server Training).
- Keep inventory of all supplies for bar service and filling liquor inventory orders through designated liquor distributors.
- Work with the Director of Special Events to fulfill specific requests prior to any particular scheduled event.
- Implement safe working practices to ensure safety of building occupiers and visitors.

Education, Experience, and Skills Required:
- High School diploma or equivalent and a minimum of at least 2 years’ experience in customer service and related field
- Wisconsin Bartending License certified within one month of hire date.
- In-depth knowledge of the food industry
- Exceptional organizational, leadership, problem-solving, and communication skills
- Strong knowledge of related computer software, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and restaurant management software
- Employee must regularly lift and/or move 25 pounds
- Excellent customer service skills
- Must be teamwork oriented with great delegation skills
- Mandatory evenings, weekends, and holidays for events
