This month, we had the opportunity to work alongside a number of employees at the Radisson Hotel & Conference Center in Fond du Lac.
We began our shift working in the conference center with two long-time employees (who were super kind and knowledgeable). We helped clean up after a regularly scheduled event. The work was simple and we had the opportunity to engage in conversation which made the work time go by fast.
During this time, when we took items into the kitchen, we had the chance to also meet one of the chefs. He was incredibly kind as well…in fact, he gave us each cookies he made (they were delicious!).
Next, we went into another department: housekeeping and laundry. This experience opened our eyes to the amount of work these employees actually do. They need to be quick, yet thorough. Even through their busy day, they were kind, helpful, and understanding. Jillian worked alongside the housekeeping team and I worked alongside the laundry team (Jillian joined us later).
Not only are there job openings in these areas, but others too. This organization can work for individuals who are seeking both full-time and part-time opportunities. The roles we performed were fulfilling, but not overly exerting. It was neat to know the work we were assisting with really made an impact on the overall organization and guest experience.
