Marian University invites applicants for the position of Adjunct Professor of Thanatology to begin fall 2024. The Thanatology Program is 100% online, offering work and instruction to be completed and conducted remotely, with protentional for on campus work. This position will teach online courses in the undergraduate Thanatology minor and certificate program and will have the potential to develop and deliver undergraduate thanatology courses. The candidate must be able to collaborate effectively with colleagues in a remote online environment. Preference will be given to candidates with a Ph.D. in a Thanatology related subject with online teaching experience and a demonstrated commitment to social justice, inclusion, and diversity.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Teach online classes in 7-week and 15-week Courses will be primarily undergraduate, with the potential to build new undergraduate courses.
- Collaborate effectively with departmental and inter-departmental colleagues on training and program development.
- Support the department mission, which centers on student learning through quality instruction and curriculum enhancement.
- Strictly honor the privacy, security and confidentiality of student records and other sensitive information according to state, federal, and college regulations, policies and procedures.
- Create an effective learning environment through the use of a variety of instructional methods
Minimum Qualifications
- A Master’s degree in a Thanatology related
- At least two years of online teaching
- Experience in teaching, research, or applied practice of
- Willingness to embrace the Mission and Core Values of Marian
Preferred Qualifications:
- A doctoral degree in a Thanatology related field (PhD or PsyD) and dissertation work focused on thanatology related topic.
- Experience with the learning management system Moodle, MS Teams, and other online learning platforms.
- Hold a CT (Certified Thanatologist) or FT (Fellow of Thanatology).
- Member of ADEC or other Thanatology related
