Job Description

Job Function:  This position is responsible for performing various tasks necessary to maintain tools, equipment and fixtures in order to keep them in working order.  The work requires you to make independent judgments in order to solve maintenance problems.  It is also responsible for the proper care and maintenance of company equipment.  The work requires climbing of over six (6) feet in height using a ladder or scaffolding.  Physical requirements for this job include bending/stooping, climbing, standing, kneeling and good hearing acuity for approximately 100% of shift.  Working conditions consist of loud noise, welding fumes, and grinding dust.

Essential Functions:

1.     Repairs, maintains and inspects shop and office tools and equipment to ensure proper working order.

2.     Analyzes circuits, wiring diagrams and drawings to install, repair, calibrate, service or replace electronic devices and systems.

3.     Performs work requiring a thorough knowledge of electrical theory and principles, statutory codes, properties of materials and principles of operation of electrical equipment.

4.     Services electronic equipment by checking, testing and replacing faulty components, circuits, printed circuit boards and similar electronic devices.

5.     Inventories and requests spare and replacement parts for shop and office tools and equipment.

6.     Builds and sets up work fixtures.

7.     Relocates heavy machinery as required.

8.     Completes assigned duties in accordance to safety policies and practices.  This includes regard to individual safety, the safety of other team members and the safe use of equipment in the workplace.

9.     Wears approved personal protective equipment such as safety shoes, gloves, safety glasses with side shields, respirators, hearing protection, and safety harness when using the lift.

10.  Complies with the lockout/tagout procedure.

Additional Responsibilities:

1.     Performs additional work as assigned by the department supervisor.

2.     Must be available to stay after scheduled work hours with short notice.  May also be called in for emergency repairs.

3.     Will be required to furnish all tools necessary to perform required work.  Will receive the tool allowance as stated in the Employee Guidelines.



1.     Vocational or technical college training in electronics.  2-5 years of previous electrical experience.

2.     Thorough knowledge of pneumatic and electrical tools and equipment.

3.     Ability to read and understand schematic diagrams of repair tools and equipment.

4.     Ability to perform complex wiring on equipment powered by as much as 480 volts.

5.     Ability to understand electrical tests and meters.

6.     Ability to make sound independent decisions in the care and maintenance of company owned tools and equipment.

7.     High degree of precision working with minimum tolerances required.  High degree of attention and care required to prevent injury to others when responsible for flow of electrical power.  Exposed to high voltage electricity.

8.     Ability to lift and move up to 50 pounds and/or lift and move heavy objects weighing more than 50 pounds with the assistance of another employee.

9.     Possess knowledge of general shop rules, practices, and safety precautions.

10.  Ability and willingness to cooperate with co-workers and work as part of a team.
