The Role
Burke is looking for a Manufacturing Mechanical Engineering Intern located in Fond du Lac, WI. This role supports the processes and development of new playground components and systems. It is a great opportunity to be introduced to engineering and manufacturability of design job functions. You will have the opportunity to improve existing and new products. Additionally, the role will work to improve functionality, improve safety and quality, and support cost reduction efforts.
- Assist Manufacturing Engineers with 3D models, CAD drawings, drawing details to support new product development timelines
- Develop Process Instructions for new products
- Assist with product shop routings.
- Assist with data management for ERP.
- Help investigate new materials and manufacturing methods to achieve design requirements.
- Support the design and development of fixtures to meet production needs.
- Creates 2D & 3D CAD models
- Participate in 6S (Continuous Improvement Projects)
- Helps develop quality specifications.
- Other duties as assigned.
SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Proficient in 3D CAD software (Autodesk Inventor preferred), proficient with Microsoft Office, knowledge of inventory management software.
- Ability to create shop drawings for manufactured parts, weldments and assemblies.
- Desire and ability to work hands-on to assemble prototypes and evaluate prototypes for improved design development.
- Ability to problem solve: define problems, collect data, establish facts, draw valid conclusions, and then implement solutions.
- Ability to effectively communicate with personnel from other departments.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
REQUIREMENTS
- Enrolled in secondary educational program related to Manufacturing/ Process/ Industrial Engineering or Mechanical Design; or related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Have a mechanical aptitude.
- Have a wonderful sense of humor.
