We believe that access to quality food and proper nutrition is a cornerstone of health and well-being, particularly for individuals and families experiencing poverty. We are seeking a dedicated Nutrition Specialist to join our team and play a key role in ensuring that our nutrition programs meet local, state, and federal guidelines. As part of our commitment to improving lives, ADVOCAP operates two vital programs that provide nutritious meals to vulnerable populations: one serving seniors and the other supporting preschool children.
RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
- Develop nutrition handouts and education resources and conduct nutrition workshops and classes for participants in our Senior Nutrition and Head Start programs.
- Provide individual family nutrition consultation on healthy food choices, grocery shopping, and meal preparation as needed.
- Monitor food preparation to ensure that proper food handling and hygiene practices are followed.
- Prepare and submit monthly reports/claims for meal reimbursement to DPI for meals served to Head Start children.
- Ensure compliance with food safety, licensing, nutrition program regulations, performance standards, and requirements of the Older American’s Act, the Greater Wisconsin Agency on Aging Resources, Head Start, and the USDA Food and Consumer Services Child Nutrition Program.
- This position will report to ADVOCAP’s Health Services Manager and will work closely with ADVOCAP’s Head Start Director and Food & Nutrition Director and their respective management teams.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor’s degree in nutrition or Dietetics, Registered Dietitian is preferred but not required.
- Must have ServSafe certificate or obtain within first 90 days
- Must possess a valid driver’s license and travel occasionally up to 20% of time using a personal vehicle, mileage reimbursement provided per Agency policy
- Physical/tb/drug screen and comprehensive background check required
- This position will work from our Fond du Lac office and address nutrition services in Fond du Lac, Green Lake and Winnebago counties
- Reliable attendance and a professional work ethic
SALARY & BENEFITS
This full-time position will work 36 hours per week, Monday—Thursday with occasional Fridays and weekends. The entry/starting wage for this position is $21.50 per hour, negotiable based on experience. This full-time position will have access to health, dental, vision, life, short- and long-term disability, vacation, sick and holiday pay, and our employer contribution 401k.
