Police Records Clerk

The City of Fond du Lac is accepting applications for the position of Records Clerk in the Police Department. This full-time position reports directly to the Records Clerk Supervisor and is responsible for maintenance of the City of Fond du Lac Police Department Reporting and Records System to include: processing, organization, and filing of reports generated by the Police Department. Additionally this position is responsible for coordinating and executing court related activities such as adjudication of citations, arrests, referrals, notifications, making initial appearances for traffic and ordinance violations and processing open records requests (paper & video).

Duties, Tasks and Responsibilities

Maintaining, organizing, updating and transcribing records in the department Records System to assure
easy retrieval of information contained in the Records System; coordinating and executing court related activities and reviewing arrests and accompanying reports for accuracy; processing open records requests – paper and video to include video footage captured by the In-Car Patrol Camera and the Body Worn Camera program; utilizing software to perform video redactions; and assisting the public and other agencies in obtaining information from the police records system, while applying the present laws pertaining to police records and public information.

Qualifications
• High school graduate or GED, including or supplemented by training in business and secretarial procedures.
• Thorough knowledge and application of transcriptional typing, filing, data entry, office machines, office procedures, and office etiquette.
• Ability to transcribe by mechanical dictation, preparation of reports, filing, computer entry, public relations, and laws pertaining to police records.
• Ability to express information and ideas clearly and concisely, both in written and oral form.
• Ability to gain knowledge in the area of modern office technology.
• Bi-lingual a plus.

Starting salary is $21.02 – $22.22/hour based upon knowledge, skills, and abilities with potential to receive annual COLA and step increases pending City Council approval of budgets.
