Description

Job Summary:

Inspect quality of proofs that are output and sent to the customer.

Inspect quality of plates and printed signatures to customer approved proofs

Prepare offset plates for all sheet and web presses (back-up position)

Reports To:

Prepress Supervisor

Lean Expectations (Each employment anniversary year):

  • Participate in at least two hours of educational experience(s) such as job shadowing, technical skills training, cross training, webinars, seminars, Lean networking tours, etc.
  • Implement at least one improvement idea (CI).

Primary Responsibilities:

QC: (focused attention to detail is a must for this position)

  • Read job ticket and instructions (customer concerns, digital paperwork, etc.).
  • Accurately complete 16-point QC checklist for each job. Checklist items to identify and check include (but are not limited to) pagination, color identification and color bar placement, version information, flatting, press specifications, page orientation, size, trim and bleed verification, margins, drill and perf allowances,
  • When a potential problem is found, inspect monitor proofs in Prinergy to troubleshoot issue.
  • Use Monarch dashboard for daily priorities.

Secondary Responsibilities:

Plating:

  • Read job ticket as well as all prepress notes and instructions (digital paperwork, etc.).
  • Image and monitor processing of plates for all presses.
  • Measure color bars/line screens on printing plates to ensure they are imaged within specification.

QC Press Signature Checks:

  • Accurately complete19 point QC checklist for each job. Checklist items to identify and check include (but are not limited to) flatting information, binding information, version information, quality of print, trims, verification of alterations, color bar info, varnish

Other Responsibilities:

File Prep:

  • Prepare customer supplied files for output.
  • Accurately complete pre-press checklists for both web and sheet for each job. Checklist items to identify include (but are not limited to) color, size, pagination, profile use, output percentage, FSC information.

General:

  • Follow all required safety procedures such as: PPE’s, Ergonomics Chemical Hazards, etc. Perform job in a manner that protects the health and safety of all employees.
  • Perform/maintain prepress 5S duties.
  • Perform other duties as directed.

Qualifications

Qualifications:

  • Understanding of printing process.
  • Demonstrate excellent attention to detail.
  • Strong math skills.
  • Able to read a ruler and convert fractions to decimals.
  • Work effectively without direct supervision.
  • Ability to work under pressure.
  • Ability to learn quickly and understand new concepts.
  • Demonstrate effective communication skills.
  • Work overtime as needed.
  • Knowledge of the following software helpful:
    • Prinergy, Monarch, Outlook
