The Press Operations Manager is accountable for the performance of conventional web and sheetfed printing functions and work centers that primarily include (but are not limited to) DGM web offset press and Komori sheetfed press operations. This leadership position also effectively collaborates with Ricoh digital sheet fed press operations; imaging/platemaking; bindery; packaging; shipping/receiving; building services; commercial sales/service; and internal finance & general administration. The primary objective is to consistently ensure efficient operations to achieve and maintain revenue & profit goals; overall expense control; on-time production; product quality standards; low waste; and operational safety.
Key Responsibilities:
Accountable for all manufacturing functions, activities and resources to achieve operational and financial goals, including:
- Strategic planning objectives including business continuity, asset management and planned profitability
- Sales force collaboration
- Commercial and customer print relations
- Capital project development, execution and management
- Stable labor relations, negotiations and contract compliance (as applicable)
- Annual budget preparation including monthly/quarterly financial performance (revenue & expense estimates) and reporting compliance
- Staff hiring, development, retention and performance
- Contractor and vendor relations
- Standard operating procedures including process improvements
- On-time performance including product quality standards and waste goals
Education:
High school diploma or GED equivalent
Associate/Bachelor operations, Management or business degree or comparable experience preferred.
Experience Required:
Minimum of 10 years newspaper operations management or similar field experience including working in a fast paces deadliine driven environment.
Specialized Knowledge:
Pre Press /Press/ Packaging/ Bindery equipment& systems.
Knowledge of OSHA regulations.
Tech Knowledge:
Proficient PC skills including Microsoft office required.
