Society Insurance is seeking an experienced Scrum Master II to join our team. This position will manage, develop, and implement project(s) of varying complexity and size. This position will also provide collaborative leadership to one or more teams by applying Agile practices such as Scrum and Kanban and will help team members embrace and practice the values and principles of Agile. This involves removing impediments to progress, facilitating meetings, and working with product owner(s).
About the Role
- Facilitates daily scrum, sprint planning, sprint demo, and retrospective meetings at the team level, which may include multiple teams.
- Works with product owners to support short and long-term release planning and to ensure project backlog is groomed, prioritized, and maintained.
- Ensures processes are followed so that scrum teams represent accurate status of sprints and team backlog.
- Engages and assists the product owner to ensure that user stories are properly articulated, prioritized, and detailed.
- Eliminates impediments by managing risks; using quality tools to identify areas of risk; working with others on the team and outside the team to identify alternatives or solutions.
- Documents and shares team knowledge with other teams; draws on other project team experiences to enhance the success of the project.
- Focuses on continuous process improvement through feedback loops, coaching, retrospectives, and individual improvement.
- Builds high performing teams by using metrics relevant to the team to help improve performance. Facilitates Agility Health Radar sessions to help team build improvement story backlog.
- Serves as the central point of contact for all communications relating Scrum/Kanban teams.
- Performs traditional project-management activities such as status reports and project plans as required by management including running projects outside of the agile teams.
- Mentors teams on how to improve and adopt practices and procedures that improve throughput and increase quality. Is comfortable having difficult conversations with team members as needed.
- Provides input into the design and development of project plans and timelines.

What it Will Take
- Associate’s degree in Business Management or Technology related field with a minimum of 4 years of applicable experience.
- Experience working with Agile project-management methods and techniques.
- Understanding of Product Owner, Scrum Master, and development team roles.
- Ability to create trust and establish an actionable, itemized list of specific skills for the role, such as software tools and languages.
