The Site Infrastructure and Resilience Engineer is a key member of the data center services team and helps in maintaining Brunswick standards for data center, site compute closet, virtualization, as well as power resilience, cooling and other Business Continuity activities.  Working with the Site Infrastructure lead, Strategic partners, and other members of the data center services team, this role will complete projects and routine maintenance tasks to help to ensure our on-premises computing environment operates to support our global manufacturing and operations footprint.  With a cloud and automation first strategy this role will be constantly looking to automate operations and utilize cloud services where possible.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Drives adoption of standards in the environments supported which include data centers and compute closets in remote locations
  • Maintain and ensure maximum sustained performance and availability of the Company’s systems
  • Support execution of a hardware and software lifecycle management plan to ensure the supportability and availability of our on-premises computing infrastructure
  • Design, implementation, and advanced support of computing infrastructure running in our offices and manufacturing locations. This includes servers, storage, operating systems, data backup and other related technology centralized in corporate data centers or in smaller locations throughout the world
  • Use up to date analytics and usage trending in our data driven operating model to identify protentional issues with capacity and support and remediate prior to them posing an issue to the business or projects
  • Optimize infrastructure capacity through proactive review and planning to ensure that IT capacity meets current and future business requirements.
  • Re-act to performance alerts and work proactively to ensure IT meets service level requirements
  • Serve as technical escalation of incidents, problems, and change management. Be a Subject Mater Expert in Data Center operations
  • Drive compliance to policies and procedures related to IT Operations including the Disaster Recovery Plan
  • Document infrastructure assets and CI information in the ServiceNow CMDB keeping it current and usable
  • Working with outside parties and Brunswick resources execute annual disaster recovery testing
  • Keep up to date on infrastructure solutions to identify and improve existing processes or enhance overall productivity
  • Positively contributes to a high morale/high-performance team culture, leading by example.
  • Planning, installing, configuring, maintaining, and repairing the virtual infrastructure and related applications.
  • Proactively monitoring all the computing devices for compliance and security purposes.
  • Support of on-premises environments to meet our 24×7 operations requirements (off-hours and weekend work as required)
  • Facilities
    • HVAC, electrical distribution, UPS protection, generator support, fire, smoke, and water detection
      • Work to identify opportunities to move to standards
      • Support implementation when needed

Key Requirements:

  • Understanding and experience with virtualization platforms (VMWare, OVM, Azure, and OCI)
  • Broad range of infrastructure and IT operational experience
  • Experience supporting mission critical, 24×7 customer facing production/cloud environments
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.  Must be able to effectively communicate at various levels of the organization.
  • Hands on experience with bare metal servers (preferably Dell series), chassis and blade servers (preferably UCS), storage (preferably EMC), SAN, and related networking technologies
  • Should have a working knowledge of networking  – (including DNS, SMTP, VPN, TCP/IP, SNMP, LDAP, and HTTP/HTTPS)
  • Experience with VMware, Hyper-V or Azure Stack products a plus
  • Experience with cooling, power, and space resources for the Data Center environment
  • Ability to troubleshoot and solve hardware problems
  • Experience in scripting (Perl/Python/Ruby/Shel/Puppet/Rest) and automation is a plus
  • Willing to travel to data centers as needed
  • B.S. in M.I.S or  A.S. in M.I.S/Computer Support + 2 years’ experience strongly preferred
