Summary:
This position is responsible for supervising and coordinating activities of hourly and salary production employees.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assist production scheduling in the maintenance and execution of daily and weekly production schedules and reports.
- Understand and communicate plant and department-level metrics related to safety, quality, and delivery performance as well as appropriate financial performance data.
- Communicate customer expectations and job performance standards to employees so that work assignments are completed according to priorities.
- Understand the effect of labor cost and act to minimize lost time or unproductive activity.
- Understand and advocate the goals, objectives, and decisions of management.
- Thorough understanding of company policies, procedures, and safety rules and administer consistently.
- Thorough understanding of assembly line automation processes for electronic manufacturing.
- Participate in and lead LEAN manufacturing activities as needed; Kaizen, JIT, Six Sigma, 5S, etc.
- Ensure department’s compliance with IATF16949, ISO 14001 and other requirements with regard to job descriptions, work instructions, inspection practices, Quality and Procedure Manuals, internal audits and the timely handling of corrective actions.
- Generate ideas for eliminating waste and improving service within the scope of the department as well as plant-wide.
- Confer with other supervisors and managers to coordinate activities of individual departments.
- Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws.
- Overall responsibility to hire, train, develop and discipline employees
- Monitor, define, and approve hours worked in time and attendance program.
- Provide a work environment where employees are actively involved in proactive measures towards safety, quality, and continuous improvement.
- Investigate all reported injuries in the department, arrange for first aid or other medical attention as needed, complete required documentation and evaluate suggestions for improvement
- Implement corrective/preventative action where improvements are needed and following incident/accident reports
- Other job activities as assigned
Essential Education, Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Experience:
- High School Diploma required; Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Technical discipline preferred; 3 years’ experience in a manufacturing supervisory position
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Strong problem-solving skills to analyze information and evaluate results making decisions to choose the best solution
- Strong organizational, planning and prioritization skills to develop specific goals and plans
- Strong understanding of assembly line processes
- Proficiency in continuous improvement and lean manufacturing concepts
- Working knowledge of quality systems and procedures
- Proficiency using MS Office and ERP systems
