Alliant Energy has a phenomenal opportunity for a Team Lead Category Management to join our team.

If you enjoy solving puzzles and are always to looking to learn something new, then you will want to look into this role. We are responsible for the integration of internal client initiatives, strategy, and business direction with supply management. You will lead and cultivate strategic partnerships with both the client and vendors to build new value for the company by advancing business objectives.

This is a hybrid position and will work remotely and report to the Cedar Rapids, IA or Madison, WI office on average of twice per week. Candidates must reside in either Iowa or Wisconsin.

Job Responsibilities

  • Owns the development of comprehensive category strategies that align with partner goals and strategies by applying market intelligence, demand management, sustainability, supplier diversity and total cost of ownership.
  • Mentors and coaches staff to maintain alignment with strategy and goals.
  • Provide recommendations and support programs to evaluate new and existing vendors as well as their products and services across business organizations.
  • Development of strategic portfolio management plans to promote value creation both through decreasing costs (via improved vendor selection and management, as well as process efficiencies) and growing top-line growth.
  • Develops strategic plans in conjunction with client groups to meet ongoing sourcing needs. Facilitates routine business review meetings with business unit subject matter specialists and managers and key suppliers. Provides coaching and mentoring for team strategic plan development.
  • Handles contractual negotiations. Ensures that accurate governance of and compliance to corporate and legal guidelines are met. Manages multi-million dollar sourcing and supply chain spend for designated area of support.
  • Ensures the work within assigned area is completed in a manner that supports customer needs while meeting organizational goals and values.
  • Acts as the point of contact for customer needs including the RFP process and contract management. Works seamlessly with supply chain contract management and business performance teams in order to project completion.
  • Develops excellent, interactive and consultative relationships with internal customers and external vendors.
  • Keeps current in knowledge and understanding of company procedures, industry trends, and regulatory and legal requirements.
  • Performs all management duties, including budgeting, hiring, performance reviews, coordinating and scheduling work, salary recommendations, ensure employees report to work fit for duty, leadership, grievance resolution, mentor, counseling, and modeling Alliant Energy’s Values at all times.

Required Qualifications:

  • 7 years of related experience in supply chain, project management, business administration, or other related field.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or Masters Degree, Emphasis in business administration, supply chain management, engineering or related area Preferred
  • Certification Certified Purchasing Manager (CPM), Certified in Production and Inventory Management (CPIM) or Certified Professional in Supply Management (CPSM) designation
  • Collaboration experience, including tracking and reporting project status from start to finish, as well as gaining trust and confidence of internal and external personnel.
  • Proficiency in influencing projects and decisions without direct authority
  • Ability to guide collaborative projects with suppliers to deliver value, efficiencies and/or improvements in safety and quality.
  • Excellent people, analytic, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience balancing multiple high-profile projects simultaneously and ability to take ownership of assigned projects.
