How You Will Contribute

You will partner with subject matter experts across Ahern to understand the business and support with the design, development, and implementation of construction project management training for all Ahern locations. You will serve as the learning and development subject matter expert internally with stakeholders and learners to ensure appropriate delivery and program success by using your demonstrable experience conducting analysis of instructional needs and objectives, developing instructional design strategies, supporting and coaching project management subject matter experts through creating and developing content, implementing training programs, and evaluating outcomes.


What You’re Responsible For

Planning and Analysis

  • Meet with project management stakeholders to gather information related to skill/knowledge gap and expectations. Develop, plan, coordinate, and conduct needs assessments.
  • Analyze assessment data and develop project strategies.
  • Research, evaluate, and recommend educational best practices, instructional resources, and instructional technologies to support organizational learning strategies and outcomes.


Design and Development

  • Support and coach project management subject matter experts on how to produce engaging instructional materials. Deliverables include (but are not limited to): job aides, templates, facilitator guides, participant guides, and presentations.
  • Determine learning objectives of instructional materials and organize into logical learning sequences based on needs analysis results. Ensure the transfer of learning by designing programs with the end result in mind. Develop materials for supervisors and managers to further embed learning after the initial class is complete.
  • Determine appropriate delivery method (i.e. face-to-face, web-based, blended learning, etc.).



  • Assist subject matter experts in the delivery of project management training in a variety of mediums including classroom, eLearning, and blended courseware.
  • May facilitate sessions to small and large audiences.


Implementation and Management

  • Implement training solutions that will develop the skills and knowledge necessary to perform current jobs effectively and meet workplace demands; this includes creating timelines and task lists, coordinating and communicating progress with project team, and pulling in additional resources as appropriate.
  • Evaluate program effectiveness and monitor results.


What You Need to Qualify

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or other related field
  • 5 + years of experience in instructional design, development, and evaluation or related experience.


Other Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated experience managing and leading large, complex projects.
  • Solid knowledge and understanding of learning and development strategies, methods, and best practices, organizational development, and/or talent management.
  • Ability to analyze customer needs, issues, and concerns.
  • Ability to understand and communicate technical concepts quickly and accurately.
  • Ability to motivate multiple individuals with diverse backgrounds and skills in the context of shifting priorities.
  • Excellent training delivery and presentation skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple (often senior) stakeholders and build consensus.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, multi-tasking environment.
