The City of Fond du Lac Water Utility is accepting applications for a Water Distribution Crew Leader. This position will be under the direct supervision of the Distribution Maintenance Supervisor (DMS) and helps the Supervisor prioritize, plan, and coordinate maintenance work on the distribution system as well as oversees and directs the Water Utility Workers (WUW) on site daily to accomplish the maintenance work.
The successful candidate will have the knowledge, experience, and skills necessary to perform the essential duties of the following:
The position also requires the employee to be available for emergency response during off-shift hours as well as participate in the on-call rotation.
Qualifications include: 4 – 5 years’ experience with utility construction/repairs with 2 years of supervisory experience, heavy equipment experience preferred; working knowledge of the tools, methods, and materials commonly used in public works and water facility maintenance activities; and possession of a valid Wisconsin Commercial “Class A” Driver’s License without air brakes restriction and with tanker endorsement
Minimum training and experience required/preferred to perform essential job functions: Graduation from high school or equivalent; and 1 year certificate in utility construction and/or leadership training; and trained in Competent Person, Confined Space Entry, Wisconsin DNR Water Distribution Certificate; and completion of continuing education (18 hours every 3 years). Willing to train the correct candidate.

Salary Range: We offer a competitive compensation package ($27.92 – $31.91/hour) based upon knowledge, skills, and abilities with potential to receive additional step increases based on meeting and/or exceeding goals/expectations; annual COLA and step increases pending City Council approval of budgets; and future promotional opportunities in alignment with succession and career path.
