We are looking for a 2nd Shift Production Supervisor. The  Production Supervisor directly supervises 15 – 25 employees in the production process. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Participates in training to produce a quality product / services, uses preventative measures to ensure the customer requirements and company standards are met.
  • Comply with legal and other requirements to avoid injury and/or ill health to themselves and others.
  • Understands preventative measures and creates a safe and healthy environment by having the ability to identify potential emergency situations and reports all incidents to supervisor/ manager.
  • Adhere to the facility’s quality, environmental, health and safety policies and procedures that are identified by the company management systems.
  • Responsibilities: planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems. Attendance is required.              
  • Works closely with the Production Control Department and the previous shift supervisors in scheduling and monitoring the flow of quality production parts from start to finish in all areas of the manufacturing plant.
  • Ensures production teams are performing work in conformance with Work Instructions. 
  • Interprets specifications and job orders to employees and assigns duties.
  • Establishes or adjusts work procedures to meet production schedules.
  • Coordinates and completes an accurate and thorough production report for the entire shift, including Maintenance.
  • Interprets company policies to workers and enforces safety regulations.
  • Suggests changes in working conditions and use of equipment to increase efficiency of shop, department, and/or employees.
  • Analyzes and resolves work problems or assists employees in solving work problems.
  • Initiates or suggests plans to motivate employees to achieve work goals.
  • Maintains accurate and appropriate records for production employees, i.e.: attendance, disciplinary, etc.
  • Resolves employee problems or submits unsettled problems to Value Stream Manager.
  • Initiates contact for assistance with emergency maintenance, engineering, quality and or other problems.
  • Completes necessary work orders for maintenance work.
  • Approving timecards and overtime.
  • Confers with other supervisors to coordinate activities of individual departments and specific projects.
  • Works with the Production team on the monthly inventory and the annual physical inventory.
  • As necessary, signs related paperwork, answering incoming phone calls (2nd and 3rd shifts), signing off on powder blends, shut plant down if next shift is not operating.
  • Working scheduled overtime along with shift team members is required.
  • All other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION: Associate degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; or six months to one-year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:

  • Ability to read and write English. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports for business correspondence and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.  Familiarity with customer and company part #’s, blueprints and drawings.
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as; discounts, interest, commissions proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
  • Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Ability to use computers with solid working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel, Access and other data collection systems.   Excellent typing skills required.  Must be detail and quality oriented. 
  • Ability to work independently.
