This month, we had the opportunity to see the yard at Michels in Brownsville. What a place this was!
Michels is a family-owned company, based in Brownsville, Wisconsin. They were founded in 1959. they believe in providing solutions and continuously improving the quality and scope of their work. They care about their people, customers, and communities where they live and work. This was apparent with the people we spoke with.
The yard in Brownsville is much bigger than we thought. They have careers in everything from paint, to auto repair/customization to “office jobs”. People seemed genuinely interested in and happy with what they were doing.
Michels works in all 50 states, as well as Australia, Europe and Guam. There is a lot of opportunity here! At the Brownsville location, there are about 190 employees; there are about 8,000 employees throughout the entire company. Pay varies by role; however, employees are compensated fairly and eligible for other benefits.
When we asked what makes a good Michels employee, we were told be on time, be pleasant, and be teachable. The team there will teach you the job.

In the end, this was an eye-opening experience. We had no idea there were so many roles within the organization (and so many different companies under the parent company, Michels!).
