Description
Under the general direction of the Food Service Manager. Assist the cook with preparing daily meals for inmates, ensures kitchen cleanliness. Maintains security, order and discipline among inmates assigned to the kitchen; ensuring the observance of rules and regulations.
Examples of Duties
- Assist with daily cooking & baking of meals.
- Ensure that proper cleanliness, sanitary, and security standards are maintained within the food service environment.
- Assist with the preparing of special dietary needs/requests of inmates.
- Ensure accountability of silverware, dishes and miscellaneous cooking utensils for purposes of employee safety and inmate security.
- Maintains effective communication with fellow employees ensuring effective and harmonious working relationships.
- Complete special projects and assignments when requested.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Typical Qualifications
- Knowledge of food service operations to include safety and sanitary procedures related to food preparation services.
- Ability to assist in preparing and serving large quantities of food, lift and move food commodities weighing 25/50 pounds.
- Graduation from high school or the equivalent.
- Able to read and follow recipes.
- Basic knowledge or experience in large quantity baking is desirable.
*Passing a hair follicle drug test is required for this position.
Supplemental Information
Hours would be mandatory every other weekend 10:30-5:30 p.m
1 or 2 days baking during the week 7 am-1 pm
Bi weekly-32-35 hours.
