Description

The School District of Lomira is seeking candidates for a full-time speech and language pathologist vacancy in our district to begin the 2024-25 school year. Position Overview: We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate School Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) to join our team. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in supporting the communication and language development of students within our school community. As a member of our interdisciplinary team, the School SLP will assess, diagnose, and provide therapy services to students with speech, language, and communication disorders, collaborating closely with educators, parents, and other professionals to ensure the success of every student. Responsibilities include:

  • Conduct comprehensive assessments to identify speech, language, and communication disorders among students.
  • Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) to address students’ communication needs and goals.
  • Provide direct therapy services to students in individual or group settings, utilizing evidence-based techniques and interventions.
  • Collaborate with teachers, special education staff, and other school professionals to support students’ academic and social-emotional development.
  • Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings to discuss student progress, share insights, and coordinate interventions.
  • Provide training and support to teachers and staff on strategies for promoting language and communication skills in the classroom.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation of assessments, therapy sessions, and progress reports in compliance with school and state regulations.
  • Communicate regularly with parents and caregivers to provide updates on student progress and collaborate on home-based interventions.

Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited program.
  • Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology (CCC-SLP) from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA), or eligibility for certification.
  • Wisconsin State licensure or eligibility for licensure as a Speech-Language Pathologist.
  • Experience working with school-aged children with a variety of speech, language, and communication disorders.
  • Knowledge of special education laws, regulations, and best practices related to speech-language services in schools.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with students, parents, educators, and other professionals.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development and staying current with best practices in the field of speech-language pathology.
