In this months’ episode of Where is Envision Working, we bring you here!

Location: Fond du Lac Family YMCA

Job: various

This month, we had the opportunity to work at the Fond du Lac Family YMCA.

From the minute you walk in this building, you are met with a sense of welcome.

We started our time in the child watch area. This is a member service available to members and guests. While the adult is engaging in one of the many activities available, the child can enjoy play time in the child watch area. The children who were in this space when we were there were having a great time playing outside (it was Feb. 27, and it was almost 70 degrees!). The employees in this space were welcoming and engaged with the children.

We then moved to the front desk. Member engagement covers this space. What fun it was to meet and greet people as they arrived or departed. This space is fast-paced and covers a number of activities. From membership applications to general calls, the people in this space were helpful and carried a smile everywhere they went.

Our last stop was the child care area. This is a well-run machine! We happened to be there during nap time, but this allowed us to speak with the center’s director. She indicated the facility is certified and full.

We asked everyone we spoke with how long they’ve worked there and why they stay. Although the years varied, the reason was the same: it feels like family here. Along with the atmosphere, employees also indicated they appreciate the flexibility, the benefits (free Y membership!), and the idea of knowing you’re working to build something bigger. They all said the leadership at the Fond du Lac Family YMCA is stellar and that top leadership “practices what they preach”. We were also told, leadership is mindful to keep “family” in their name as that is an important aspect of a cohesive team.

The good news for you? The Fond du Lac Family YMCA is hiring! Visit  https://www.fdlymca.org/employment.html for a full listing of opportunities. They have openings for full-time, part-time, and low-hour roles.

In the end, we felt the family feeling here. People were genuinely kind and friendly. With really flexible hours, there might be a role for you here. Whether you want to teach one class, work 2 days a month, or are looking for a full-time career, there is something. Give them a look.
