Middle School English Language Arts

The Rosendale-Brandon School District has a vacancy for a full-time Middle School English Language Arts Teacher for the 2024-2025 school year. CLASSROOM TEACHER 

Purpose Statement: The CLASSROOM TEACHER will plan, organize and implement an appropriate instructional program in an elementary, middle, or secondary learning environment that guides and encourages students to develop and fulfill their academic, social, and emotional potential. 

Reports to:

Building principal or other supervising administrator

Supervises:

  • Supervises the behavior of students in the classroom, throughout the school,  and on educational trips
  • Provides input to supervising administrator regarding teaching assistants assigned to classroom

Essential Functions: 

  • Plans and develops an engaging, age appropriate course of study in the classroom, adhering to educational best practices and state and school district curriculum guidelines
  • Designs and presents individual lesson plans in one or more academic subject areas using a variety of teaching techniques that appeal to various learning styles and methods
  • Prepares materials for lessons, assignments, and tests; assesses student academic and behavioral progress and provides meaningful feedback
  • Establishes and communicates clear objectives for all learning activities
  • Monitors student progress throughout the year and evaluates preparedness for subsequent academic year
  • Communicates all progress and concerns with tact and professionalism to parents and, as appropriate, to other staff
  • Builds and maintains positive relationships with students, parents, and staff
  • Enforces safety and security standards for students, staff, and visitors
  • Maintains required paperwork for individual student files, attendance and incident reports, and other necessary records
  • Participates in staff meetings, educational conferences, in-service opportunities, workshops, and other trainings
  • Performs other related duties as assigned

  • Bachelor’s degree in education or related subject required
  • State certification in appropriate subject area required

Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer or standing to teach
  • Regularly reach with hands and arms
  • Must be able to traverse classroom and adjust one’s tone and height, by bending or leaning, in order to teach each child, as well as lead students to safety in the event of an emergency
  • Occasionally lift and/or move up to 15 pounds
