Piping Designer

How you will contribute:

The Piping Designer plays a critical role as a design member of a project team, and serves to provide comprehensive design of systems that vary in size and scope for the assigned/designated division at J. F. Ahern, so that once a project is in execution, the field/shop has what they need to ensure optimal productivity/efficiency.  The Designer creates complex systems and then develops all system drawings, specs, calculations, and bill of material lists associated with their assigned projects.  The design role is critical in that it is the origin point for all projects, and as such, the Designer consistently operates independently and consistently in a methodical yet fast-paced manner to ensure that the subsequent stages of each project are set up for success and timely completion.

What you need to qualify: 

Candidates must have an Associate or Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Design, Civil Engineering, Computer Aided Drafting/Design or related field, or, field installation experience. Proficiency in a recent version of Revit, Navisworks and Autodesk Construction Cloud. Candidates should have a strong understanding of commercial or industrial building construction, have a working knowledge of steam and hydronic systems, be able to manage a design team’s schedule, lead coordination efforts, problem solve, have strong math skills and the ability to read blueprints.
