Position Summary:  The President is the chief executive office of the University and is charged with carrying out and integrating its mission into the day to day operations of the University.  The President is ex officio, a voting member of the Board of Trustees; is a liaison between the Board of Trustees and all constituencies of the University; and executes policies established by the Board.  The President presides at and conducts public, official functions of the University, including commencements and convocations. As President, he/she confers degrees.

The President has ultimate authority and responsibility to direct and administer all activities and departments of the University. Additionally, the President represents the University to the civic community and all other public groups.

Responsibilities:

Catholic Identity:  Uphold and promote Marian’s Catholic identity, values and traditions. Ensure the Catholic mission is integrated into all aspects of the University.

Strategic Leadership:  Develop and implement strategic plans that align with the University’s mission, vision and core values.  Lead initiatives to enhance academic programs, student experience, and overall institutional effectiveness.  Build and lead a strong team.

Financial Management/Resource Acquisition:  Oversee the University’s budget, financial resources and fund-raising efforts.  Ensure fiscal responsibility sustainability and growth through effective financial planning and management.

Student Success:  Advocate for student success initiatives and holistic student development.  Champion a supportive and inclusive campus environment while being committed to diversity, equity and inclusion.

Community Engagement:  Cultivate strong relationships with local communities, alumni, donors and industry partners.  Foster partnerships, collaborations and outreach activities that benefit the University and the broader community.

Ethical Leadership: Demonstrate ethical decision-making skills and diplomacy.

Effective Communication Skills:  Build effective relationships and work collaboratively with faculty, staff, students, the Board of Trustees and the Congregations of Sisters of St. Agnes. Demonstrate crisis management skills to include the ability to quickly assess situations and make decisions.  Demonstrate humility and willingness to take responsibility for decisions.

Knowledge of Facilities:  Ability to plan for adequate upkeep of all university facilities.

Board Relations:  Collaborate with the Board of trustees to provide regular updates, seek guidance and implement board directives.  Serve as a liaison between the Board to Trustees, faculty, staff, students, and external stakeholders.

Qualifications: 

  • Sufficient education, Ph.D. preferred or similar role in an education setting.
  • Significant leadership experience in higher education administration or related setting.
  • Experience in a non-academic business executive leadership role a plus.
  • Deep understanding and commitment to Catholic higher education.
  • Strong financial acumen and experience with budget management, fundraising and resource allocation.
  • Demonstrated success in strategic planning, academic program development and fostering a culture of innovation and excellence.
  • Visionary leadership qualifies.
