Research/Database Analyst

This position promotes and supports the learning experience of Marian University students by providing relevant, reliable, quality data and information for use in supporting institutional planning, assessment and decision making, while adhering to and complying with Federal, state and local mandates.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  1. Responds to requests for information by gathering, assembling, analyzing and organizing relevant institutional data and metrics.
  2. Coordinates with IT and other functional areas of the University to ensure proper system integration of software products.
  3. Responsible for analyzing data from administrative units in support of institutional planning, assessment and decision making.
  4. Knows general rules, regulations, policies, and procedures of the University and effectively and consistently communicates the information to students, faculty, and staff.
  5. Runs reports, labels and surveys for various constituents, including IPEDS and NSC.
  6. Initiates, delivers and maintains surveys throughout the year and prepares analysis of results.
  7. Maintains proficiency in PowerCampus, and Microsoft Excel.
  8. Helps prepare for accreditation reviews, and compiles and analyzes other statistics.
  9. Helps educate information producers, users and consumers.
  10. Cross trains with support specialists in other offices to provide support to across the institution.
  11. Serves on campus-wide committees as appropriate.
  12. Maintains a positive work environment by cooperating in a professional manner with the University community.

OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Performs other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, and SKILLS REQUIRED:

  1. Associates degree or equivalent work experience required.
  2. Proficiency in SQL (Structured Query Language) and SQL reporting services data extraction techniques, query writing and data management, including the ability to extract format and load data from various sources.
  3. Ability to work independently or as a team with internal and external constituents to plan, test, implement and troubleshoot software issues, systems connectivity issues and missing or inaccurate data within Marian’s IT infrastructure and software.
  4. Proficient in computer skills including statistical software and spreadsheets.
  5. Ability to function effectively in a high paced office setting: strong writing and oral communication, problem solving, organizational, time management, planning and multi-tasking skills.
