Senior Accountant

Overview

Under the direction of the Corporate Accounting Manager, this position is responsible for general accounting processes related to the production of monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements. This position also assists with monitoring and maintaining the general ledger, including accountability, security and reconciliation issues. Other responsibilities include assisting with budgeting and forecasting processes, audit schedules and quarterly and annual reporting.

Responsibilities

  • Perform monthly accounting entries for the month end close process.
  • Perform reconciliations of the company’s securitized equipment loan program, including cash applications and loan booking entries.
  • Reconcile various balance sheet accounts of the general ledger to ensure the accuracy and completeness of the monthly closing.
  • Prepare the monthly statement of cash flows.
  • Assist with quarterly and annual report preparation, including composing footnotes and other supporting schedules.
  • Prepare various audit schedules, pull supporting documents, help answer questions as requested by external auditors during their field audit work.
  • Participate in the budgeting and forecasting processes. (ex: provide support schedules, help answer questions from stakeholders on actual results).
  • Maintain and analyze the company’s inventory of leases, including maintaining the lease software program.
  • Support various accounting projects as assigned.
  • Identify problems and inefficiencies within accounting processes and suggest and implement improvements.
  • Provide assistance with new system conversion and enhancements.
  • Aid in the research and interpretation of US GAAP accounting literature as necessary.
  • Support the coordination and preparation of quarterly and annual financial audit schedules.
  • Provide assistance with acquisition related accounting issues and general ledger integration.

Qualifications

Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, strongly preferred
  • At least five years of professional accounting work experience
  • Experience in public accounting or with a SEC reporting company is preferred

Skills and Abilities:

  • Working knowledge of US GAAP
  • Ability to independently plan, prioritize and carry out simultaneous projects and meet deadlines
  • Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of the organization through verbal and written communication
  • Working knowledge of PC based applications, especially Microsoft Excel and Word
  • Knowledge of SAP preferred
